Libby Schools: Three-for-three - School Board determined

| May 1, 2012 3:52 PM

There will be no balloting to fill expired terms on Libby School District Board next month.

A person who accepted a petition to file for a position on the School Board did not return that document to the Elections Department in the Lincoln County Clerk’s Office by deadline, so with three candidates for three positions, there need not be balloting May 8.

The lack of balloting for School Board will save the district cost of the election.

“Yes, without an election, the School Board will save about $6,000,” said Leigh Riggleman, Lincoln County Assistant Election Adminstrator. “The last election cost the district $5,988.71, which it won’t have that expense this time.”

So, the stage is set for the next board.

Board incumbents Bruce Sickler and Ellen Johnston will retain their seats on the board. Board member Lee Disney had called it quits after serving five terms.

The third candidate, Melissa LaGoy, by virtue of the uncontested race, will be sworn in and take office with Sickler and Johnston during the May 14 board meeting.
