Bull Lake acquires CVFSA firetrucks

| July 6, 2012 1:44 PM

Cabinet View Volunteer Fire Department, which serves the Cabinet View Fire Service Area, has sold at least two of its wildland engines used for fighting wildfires to Bull Lake Fire District.

The Western News confirmed the sale of the engines by Doug Turman, unit fire supervisor with the Libby office of the Department of Natural Resources.

Terms of the purchase were not disclosed, only to say “it was a business transaction,” according to Janet Miller, wife of Bull Lake Fire District Chief Clyde Miller.

Turman knew of the purchase, as Bull Lake must register the vehicles with the DNRC to be on a list to be called in the event of a wildfire.

Asked about the number of the vehicles involved in the sale, Turman said, “I don’t know two or three.”

Both Bull Lake and Cabinet View recently lost a judgment concerning determination of services. The fire agencies sought an answer as to who could determine services, whether the departments or the Lincoln County Commissioners. A 20th Judicial District judge last month ruled the county determines the scope of service.

The engines have not been used recently by Cabinet View, Turman said, which may have prompted the sale to Bull Lake.

Repeated calls to both Cabinet View and Bull Lake fire agencies for comment were unsuccessful.
