Jack Taylor, 67, formerly of Libby

Jack (John) E. Taylor received his Crown of Life in Quartzsite, Ariz., on Nov. 26, 2012. 

He was enjoying his retirement in Arizona with his wife Sarah for the winter. 

Jack was born in Libby on Aug. 20, 1945, to Glenn and Gladys Taylor. Jack was the sixth of nine children. He attended elementary through high school in Libby. 

He joined the Army and served for three years, and later joined the Navy serving for two years. 

Jack married Sarah Lautenschlager on Nov. 10, 1979, and immediately became dad to her daughter, Rachel. 

He lived in Libby until moving to Evanston, Wyo., in 1980 to work in the oilfield. In 1987 he and his family moved to Klamath Falls where he worked for OIT doing custodial, and then Diamond helping customers with home improvement projects.

Jack was active in his church and the Klamath community in the 25 years of living there. He was a member of the Klamath County Search and Rescue, Klamath County Mounted Sheriff’s Posse, as well as an elder at Zion Lutheran Church. Jack enjoyed helping his friends with anything they needed help with and always had a smile. 

He never knew a stranger; everyone he met was an immediate friend.

Jack is survived by his wife, Sarah; daughter Rachel McKim, and her husband Jon; granddaughters Megan and Emma McKim, all of Bend, Ore. 

He is also survived by brothers Bill Taylor, Bob Taylor, and Paul Taylor, and sisters Sally Taylor, Andy Holcomb, Valli Hume, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Taylor, mother Gladys Taylor, and sister Beverly Miller and infant niece Heidi.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church in Klamath Falls on Monday at 11 a.m. Dec. 3, 2012.
