Ray K. Maiden

Ray K. Maiden, 86, of Grass Valley,

Calif., passed away Feb. 21, 2011.

Ray was born Jan. 10, 1925 in Creston,

Wash., to Kelly and Velta Maiden.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943

serving in Company B of the 120th Infantry throughout the Northern

European Campaign — earning the Bronze Star. He achieved the rank

of staff sergeant. He was very proud of his military service,

attending many reunions and proudly supporting various veterans’

organizations.

Upon his return to civilian life he met

and married Millie Vukelich, having two children and later

divorcing.

Ray became a master carpenter working

as a union carpenter in Montana, Washington and Nevada before

retiring to Grass Valley in 1986.

Ray is survived by special friend Clara

Mae Harmon of Grass Valley, daughter Dixie Baeth (Randy), son Bob

Maiden (Becky) of Libby, five grandsons Nicholas and Josh Baeth,

Robin, Jeremiah and Trevor Maiden, a granddaughter Makenna Maiden

and two great-grandchildren, Hailie and Barret Maiden.

He is preceded in death by his parents

and two siblings.

A memorial will be held for family at a

later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Libby VFW, where

he was a past post commander.
