Doris D. Cook

Doris D. Cook, 74, died on June 3, 2011, at her home in Troy.

She was born on Sept. 16 1936, at Plato, Minn., to Henry and Hazel (Hamlin) Laasch. 

She grew up in Brady and Shelby, Mont. She attended schools in Conrad and Shelby, and worked in her mom’s café. 

On Jan. 17, 1956, she married Roy M. Poole at Newell, S.D.  They lived in Texas, Wyoming, Montana and South Dakota.  Doris married Bill Cook on Nov. 17, 1973, at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 

Doris enjoyed Chihuahuas, reading, doing crossword puzzles, shopping, garage sales, beading and doing crafts. 

She was a member of the Church of God in Troy.

Survivors include her husband Bill Cook of Troy, Mont.; daughters Kim Backen and husband Joel of Whitefish, Mont.; and Chris Vandenbos and husband Dale of Troy, Mont.; son Loren Poole and wife Christal of Kalispell, Mont.; several grandchildren, including Kelly Mountan and Hannah Poole; siblings Pat Sorum of Kent, Wash.; Charlie Laasch of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Virgil Laasch of Cut Bank, Mont.; Beauty Davis of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; Jerry Skillings of Ore.; Cory Snyder of Libby; Lori DeShazer of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and Nita McLaury of Kalispell, Mont.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Troy Church of God.  Local arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
