Knute R. Young 76, of Libby

Knute R. Young, 76, of Libby died peacefully  Monday Dec. 12, 2011, at his home in Libby from natural causes. 

He was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Santa Monica, Calif., to Theodore and Lois Young. 

He grew up and attended school in California. 

After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in Korea.  Knute had worked for the phone company in California, Idaho and  Montana. 

He moved to Libby in 1970. He married Arlene Miller in 1987. Knute retired from the phone company in 1991. 

He enjoyed fishing, flying ultralights, hunting, and motorcycle riding.  He loved his grandkids very much.

His parents, a daughter and a sister-in-law preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife Arlene Young of Libby; a daughter Donna Bauer and husband Howard of Columbia Falls, Mont.; a son Knute Young Jr.; Wayne Miller and wife Debi of Fairbanks, Alaska; Scott Miller of Volcano, Hawaii; Terry Miller of Kalispell, Mont.; Ann Ford and husband Bryce of Libby; sisters Alice Young of Belgrade, Mont.; Dorothy  Clark and husband Armand of Aniston, Ala.; brother Mike Young of San Louis Obispo, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday Dec. 20, 2011, at the Libby Christian Church in Libby. 

Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
