Charles B. Welch 50, of Libby

Charles Bryan Welch, 50, of Libby died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at his home in Libby. 

He was born June 19, 1961, in Cumberland, Md., to Charles and Kathleen Varah Welch. 

He spent his boyhood years in Skaneateles, N.Y., and Gainesville, Fla. 

At the age of 18, he joined the U.S. Marines and served five years in the reserves. 

Bryan had a 20-year career in the Florida Department of Corrections, achieved the rank of warden and retired in 2005. 

Upon retirement, he moved to Salmon, Idaho, where he lived for a year before moving to Libby. 

Bryan enjoyed hunting, fishing in Alaska, hiking and gold mining.  He had great love for the outdoors. 

Among his favorite places in the world were the Cabinet Mountains. 

Survivors include his parents Kathleen Varah and husband Frank Sieka of Hiawassee, Ga;  Charles H. Welch of State College, Pa; brother David C. Welch & wife Dusty of Fredericksburg, Va.; sister Karen Welch of Cumming, Ga.; and the entire Watts Family of Accokeek, Maryland.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at at the Libby Christian Church in Libby. 

Local arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
