William Lee Burson (Big Red), 73, passed away Monday Aug. 8, 2011, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell, Mont.

William (Tom) was born July 13, 1938, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Lela and Roscoe Burson.

Tom graduated from Amity High School in Amity, Ohio, in 1956.  He performed various job duties in the farming and mechanical fields until enlisting in the U.S. Army.

After his years of serving in the Army, he was then employed in the Mount Vernon, Ohio, area, until the year 1972 he and his family relocated to Perrysville, Ohio, and there he retired at Mansfield Plumbing Products in the year 2000.

Tom and his wife, Cheryl, moved to Libby in 2003 and have been Libby residents ever since.  He spent his life being the best father, grandfather and great-grandfather that any child could ever want, and no one could ask for a better brother. 

He also spent the last 30 years making his wife feel greatly loved, special, safe and secure.  His love will be greatly missed by us all. We are so thankful for all of the wonderful memories he has given us.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, daughter, Kelly, and son, Terry.

Survivors include his wife Cheryl K. Burson of Libby; daughter Tammy Winn and husband David of Libby; son Thomas Burson and wife Latonda of Loudonville, Ohio; son Randy Burson and wife Pam of Perrysville, Ohio; son Troy Hall and wife Jody of Loudonville, Ohio; daughter Theressa Savage and husband Kent of Loudonville, Ohio; son Trent Hall of Mansfield, Ohio; and wife/widow of his late son Terry Hall, Nada Hall of Mansfield, Ohio; 36 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; siblings Ann Jordan, Sandra Porter, Donald Burson and wife Roberta all of Bellville, Ohio; Vicky Richards, Jenny Deboard and husband Jim all of Mount Vernon, Ohio; and Biff Smithisler and wife Susan of Columbus, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for family will be held at a later date.

Local arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory of Libby.
