Letter: Questions about dam on Lake Creek

| October 7, 2010 1:50 PM

Dear Editor:

With the move on to eliminate dams from free-flowing waters, I was wondering why the dam on Lake Creek is still operational.

Remember, it was built to provide power for the new sawmill that J. Neils built in Troy. However, it has been decades since it was shut down.

Many power companies are taking out dams of their own volition as they are not adding to the bottom line and there are other sources for the needed electricity. A voluntary removal just might remove any reasons for the “greens” to file expensive lawsuits.

Just wondering.
