Billie Joe Turner

Billie Joe Turner, 80, a longtime Libby resident, died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

He was born Dec. 18, 1929 in Amarillo, Texas. He worked at J. Neil’s Lumber Co., St. Regis, Champion International and Stimson for 47 years.

Family said they would remember him as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

A daughter, Terry Ann, preceded him in death. 

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Turner of Libby; children, Irma Gibbs and husband George of Spirit Lake, Idaho; and Michael Turner and wife Wanda of Kent, Wash.; three sisters, Lydia Neu and husband Don of Valley, Wash.; Ethel Hoffine and husband Steve of Laramie, Wyo.; and Sue McNutt and husband Jack of Sandpoint, Idaho; a brother, Ray Kemp of Clark Fork, Idaho; grandchildren, Virginia, Jon, David, Craig, Matt, Serina and Billie Jo; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are scheduled for Monday Jan. 25 at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby at 1 p.m. Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
