Girls Basketball: Lady Loggers win by 30

The Libby High School girls basketball team took care of Class B Eureka in a nonconference meeting Saturday evening, 52-22.

Jaime Gilden scored 14 points to lead the Lady Loggers. Alysha Martin netted 11 and Jackie Mee added 10. The team hit a trio of 3-pointers – two by Mee and one by Martin.

Libby allowed no more than six points to be scored in any one quarter. Eureka managed five in the first and third quarters, and six in the second and fourth quarters. Libby held a 24-11 lead at halftime before going on a 20-5 run to pull away for good in the third.

Cassidy Morgan scored seven to lead the Lady Lions.

Eureka falls to 3-3 overall with the loss.

Libby (3-2) will open its conference season on Friday with a trip to Columbia Falls. The Lady Loggers will then come home on Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. matchup against another Northwestern A opponent, Ronan.
