The most common phrase on a Sunday trip up to the Turner Mountain Ski Area – “You picked a wonderful day to come up.”

Indeed, the mesmerizing white snow with sunny, blues skies overhead provided incredible opportunities for those with cameras. But the primary reason for visiting Turner Mountain is to take advantage of the skiing. Folks of all ages were enjoying the slopes – most locals with a few Idahoans mixed in.

A ride on Turner’s modern ski lift is a thrill in itself – especially on a clear day with the winter wonderland passing below and on all sides. After a refreshing run, many skiers head right back over to the lift for another opportunity to head downhill. Some take a break in the ski area’s exceptional lodge – which offers not only a place to relax but also a pretty good lineup of tasty food items.

One interesting observation while visiting Turner – the people there are very friendly and happy. Many volunteer their time to make the ski area a thrilling and safe place to visit but also to feed their passion for the slopes. It’s addictive to be around those types of individuals that work toward a common goal.

Coming up next week, Turner Mountain will host Skier Appreciation Day. The annual event is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 15. Vouchers are available at various local businesses. With a voucher, adults can get half off while children under 18 are free.
