Joanne F. Dimes Jaqueth Shiflett

| December 8, 2010 6:18 AM

Longtime Libby resident Joanne

Shiflett, 75, died peacefully of natural causes at her residence on

Dec. 4, 2010.

Joanne was born on June 9, 1935 in

Plymouth, Mass., to Thomas Fillebrown and Josephina Ruprecht

Fillebrown. Her mother passed away when she was 2 years old and her

father remarried Leora Fillebrown. She grew up in a large family of

eight children.

After graduating high school, Joanne

went to nursing school at Quincy City Hospital. While there she met

Donald Dimes and they were married in March 1956.

Donald and Joanne moved about the

country with a construction company. She worked in various doctor

offices and at UC Davis hospital as well as several other

facilities but her specialty was always her family and cooking. In

1983, Donald and Joanne divorced while living in Oregon.

In May 1986, Joanne was introduced to

Libby native Ken Jaqueth. Soon, she moved to Libby and married Ken

in December 1986. She enjoyed the cabin in the Yaak, hunting and

other activities with Ken. Ken passed away in June 1990.

In early 1991, Joanne met William

Shiflett and they were married in May. She continued to work at

Libby Care Center for a while. After retiring from there, Joanne

decided to put her passion for cooking to work for her as a

Pampered Chef consultant. Her love and talent for cooking made her

well-known for her Pampered Chef parties.

Joanne also loved to crochet, do

crossword puzzles, work with youth at church and cook for her

family. In Connecticut she was known as “Mama” Dimes and kids would

come running when they smelled the fresh bread from the oven every

Saturday afternoon. Her house was always open to friends and family

for great conversation and laughter.

Joanne is preceded in death by her

father, Thomas; mother, Josephina; stepmother, Leora; brothers,

Thomas, John and James; sister, Margaret (Peg); stepsister, Betty

Lou; first husband, Donald; second husband, Ken; third husband,

William; stepson, J. Scott Jaqueth; and stepdaughters, Nanette

She is survived by brothers, Charles

(Chick) of Oregon; and Loring of California; children, Dana Dimes

of Corpus Christi, Texas; Dawn (Dimes) Wilson of Cuba, Mo.; Danette

(Dimes) Mickelson of Libby; and Dwight Dimes of Kalispell; adopted

McNair (Roland) of Libby, Lorrie Kier (Mike) of Santa Monica,
