Fund set up to help cancer victim cover bills

The family of Sheryl Eberly has set up an account in an effort to receive donations to help cover medical expenses. Eberly was diagnosed with Invasive Squamous Cell Carcinoma cancer on her tongue.

She has undergone one surgery and is currently receiving radiation treatment with the possibility of a second surgery. Hoping to receive help to get medical expenses covered, her daughters set up a cancer fund account at First National Bank of Montana.

Insurance committee meeting set for Tuesday

A Libby Public Schools insurance committee meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 31 in the Central Administration Building board room.

On the agenda will be insurance renewal options, rates and discussion.

Head Start in Libby, Troy now enrolling

Kootenai Valley Head Start in Libby and Troy is now enrolling for the 2009-10 school year.

Head Start serves children ages 3-4 (by Sept. 10) whose family income meets the established federal guidelines. Program options include part day, full day and home-based experiences. Transportation is provided to school from designated bus stops.

American Legion District 4 meeting set for Kalispell

The American Legion of Montana’s District 4 is expecting about 100 Legionnaires and auxiliary members to attend the spring meeting on Sunday, March 29 in Kalispell.

Posts included in District 4 are Kalispell, Thompson Falls, Columbia Falls, Eureka, Bigfork, Libby, St. Ignatius, Whitefish, Polson, Charlo, Paradise, Ronan and Troy.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. at the Eagles Lodge, 37 First St. West in Kalispell. The program begins at 10 a.m. and a joint banquet begins at noon with Department Commander Elmer Palmer of Lolo serving as guest speaker.

Business meetings then follow at 1:30 p.m. Janie Orr of Libby, district president, will conduct the auxiliary meeting.
