Sunday Sports Update

Jesse Day hit 10 straight free throws in the fourth quarter to help the Troy boys basketball team defeat Eureka on Saturday, 55-41.

With the victory the Trojans clinched the No. 2 seed in the District 7-B tournament. Troy will play Thompson Falls in its first game.

In the girls’ matchup, Eureka took a 44-31 victory after the two teams had battled to an 11-11 halftime tie. Molly Harpole had 10 points for the Trojans.

Libby’s girls defeated Ronan, 62-38, to keep a hold on second place in the Northwestern A. Jackie Mee netted 25 points for the Lady Loggers.

The Libby boys dropped a 58-38 decision to the Chiefs. Conner Benson scored 14 in the losing cause.

Justin Graham won the 215-pound state title in wrestling while Seth Wright finished runner-up and Kyle Leir placed fifth. See the "Breaking News" story on this website's home page for details.
