Gary N. Gompf

Gary Neil Gompf, 60, Libby native, died Friday, Feb. 6 in Henryetta, Okla.

He was born Feb. 16, 1948 in Libby to Loren Lee and Margaret Amanda “Buck” Gompf. He was raised and received his education in Libby, graduating high school in 1966. He entered the U.S. Navy and served four years receiving his honorable discharge. He was employed with the railroad for four years before beginning his career with Phillips Petroleum Co. in 1978.

He was a communication engineer until retirement in 2003. He was a member of the Bartlesville Peddlers Bicycle Club, involved with Ham radio operations and was licensed at age 7. He also enjoyed operating remote controlled airplanes.

He lived in Bartlesville, Okla., at the time of his death.

Survivors include; his wife, Karolena Gompf, of Bartlesville; one daughter, Jennifer Lynne Berryman and her husband Johnny of Edmond, Okla.; one sister, Donna Sather of Libby; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Gompf was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Jeffrey Neil Gompf; one brother, Loren Keith Gompf; and one sister Jackie Riddle.

Funeral services were planned for Wednesday at the Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel in Bartlesville with the Rev. Chad Perceful of East Cross United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
