The Libby High School boys basketball team survived a furious Columbia Falls rally in the fourth quarter to post a key victory in the Northwestern A on Thursday night, 37-34.

The Loggers led most of the way and held a 12-point lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Wildcats threatened. Columbia Falls had a chance to tie with the final possession but Joel Fuller’s steal with 4 seconds left sealed the Logger victory.

Conner Benson scored nine and Alex Cislo added eight for the Loggers.

Libby (5-2, 10-4) plays tonight at Bigfork.

Elsewhere on Thursday, the Lady Loggers dropped a 52-45 decision at first-place Columbia Falls. The Wildkats pulled away in the second and third quarters and then fought off a Libby rally in the fourth to go to 6-0 in the conference.

Jackie Mee scored 17 and Brittany Martin added 16 for LHS.

The girls are scheduled to play a makeup game at Bigfork on Tuesday.
