Libby High School sophomore Jason Schikora placed third statewide during last weekend’s Class A Speech and Drama State Tournament in Butte.

Schikora’s placing came in Humorous Solo, a category that he won at divisionals.

In all, 22 Montana Class A schools participated. As a team, Libby pulled off a seventh-place finish with its small cast participating in five of the six drama events.

Besides Schikora, teammate Jolee Holder also placed in Humorous Solo with a sixth-place showing.

Coach Shelley Fisher called Humorous Solo the “cutthroat category” in drama and said that even though Schikora received a first place in the final round, scores are a cumulative tally from all rounds.

Seniors Kammi McClain and Andi Moog capped off their LHS drama careers with eighth place in Classical Duo.

“To see their faces when they were announced was just priceless,” Fisher said.

Libby’s other placing finalist was senior Stormy Miller, who changed her Serious Solo act the week of divisionals. Miller managed an eighth-place finish in Butte.

“It is exciting to see a strong finish for seniors,” said Fisher, adding that all but one Libby thespian made it into the semifinals, and was extremely proud of the team’s performance over the course of the season.
