Mary E. Hanson

Mary E. Hanson, 76, of Libby died Dec. 3, 2009 at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital.

She was born in Opheim on April 23, 1933, the daughter of Merritt and Nell (Crane) Robbins. 

She grew up and attended school in Glasgow, graduating with the class of 1951.

She married Roy Hanson on Nov. 8, 1953 in Glasgow. 

They made their home in Wolf Point and then moved back to Glasgow for two years. They moved to Missoula and lived there for nine years and then to Whitefish for nine years. 

She worked at North Valley Hospital in Whitefish for three years. Then they moved to Libby in 1978. They owned and managed Woodland Trailer Court for 14 years. 

Mrs. Hanson enjoyed reading, playing cards with friends, baking and babysitting. 

Survivors include her husband, Roy Hanson of Libby; three daughters, Marla Hanson; Anna Erlandson and husband Joel; and Robbin Miller and husband Ray – all of Libby; two grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha; three brothers, Robert Robbins and wife Helen of Nashua; Arnold Robbins and wife Mavis of Havre; and Edward Robbins of Saint Maries, Idaho; three sisters, Dorothy Swagesty and husband Bob of Havre; Betty Fuhurman of Spokane, Wash.; Patty Horne and husband Bob of Havre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Libby.

Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby handled arrangements.
