Geraldine L. Nelson

Geraldine L. Nelson, 82, of Libby died Monday, Nov. 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Wash. of natural causes.

She was born Aug. 31, 1927 in Great Falls to Walter and Pearl Holzehiemer Pearson.  She spent most of her early years in Libby before moving to Kalispell where she attended the eighth grade.

She married Fred “Nip” Nelson in January of 1946. They lived in Lincoln County all of their lives.

She started working in restaurants as a waitress, and a short time later she started cooking. She cooked in numerous restaurants in Eureka, Libby and Troy. One of her favorite pastimes was shooting blue rocks, which she started at the age of 69. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and hunting. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include  children  Larry Nelson of Libby; Bruce Nelson and life partner Joetta of Post Falls, Idaho; Dean Nelson of Libby; brothers Sonny Pearson of Troy; Gene Pearson and wife Joy of Chewelah, Wash; Bill Olson and wife Trudie of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. at Tobacco Valley Cemetery in Eureka. Visitation was scheduled 1-8 p.m. Thursday at the Schnackenberg and Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
