Libby golf teams take 2nd at tourney

Libby High School’s Eric Anderson pushed hard for top individual honors during Tuesday’s Columbia Falls Invitational but Polson’s Tyler Engebretson held on to take first place in the boys’ division by two strokes.

Engebretson shot a round of 80 with Anderson ended up at 82. Libby’s Jack Watson tied for eighth with an 89.

In the boys’ team race, Whitefish took first place with 348, followed by Libby at 385, Columbia Falls at 389, Ronan at 411 and Bigfork at 417.

The Loggers also had a runner-up in the girls’ portion of the tournament with Jackie Mee turning in a score of 95. Julie DiGillonardo easily won with a round of 81.

Polson’s girls took first place with a team score of 378. Ronan finished second at 468, followed by Libby’s 476, Bigfork’s 489 and Whitefish’s 583.

The tournament was played at the par-72 Meadow Lake Resort.

The golf team sees action again on Saturday with a home appearance. The Libby Invitational is scheduled to tee off at 10 a.m.
