Logger golfers compete at Frenchtown

The Libby High School boys and girls golf teams competed Tuesday at the Frenchtown Invitational at King Ranch Golf Course.

The Lady Loggers came in with a team score of 490 with Taylor Barton finishing as the top individual with a time of 106 – good for sixth place. Candace Hendrickson scored a 117, Jona Peltier had a 112 and Chelsey Oedewaldt shot a round of 146.

Anaconda won the girls title with 380, followed by Ronan (461), Whitefish (463) and the Loggers.

Anaconda’s Chelsie Moquist easily won the individual title with a round of 79 – nine strokes better than an 88 turned in by teammate Teryn Green. Jordan Strozzi of Ronan placed third with a 90 and Frenchtown’s Lindsey Blass was fourth with a 98.

In the boys’ competition, Libby compiled a team score of 384 to finish fifth out of six teams.

Eric Anderson had another good outing with an 85, which placed him 10th. Anderson shot a round of 80 – also good for a tie for 10th place – on Sept. 25 at the Polson Tournament.

Zach Watson, who placed fifth at Polson with a 77, came in with a 95 at Frenchtown. Rounding out LHS individual scores, Eric Grotjohn and Louis Cielak each had a 102, and Chris Campbell finished with a 116.

Hamilton took first place at 324, followed by Whitefish (348), Ronan (349), Anaconda (353), Libby and Frenchtown (423).

Brad Palin was the boys’ medalist with a 78, one stroke better than Ronan’s Nolan Harris and Anaconda’s Stephen Masters. Jason Jessop of Hamilton placed fourth with an 81.

Libby headed to Divisionals on Thursday at Bigfork in a tournament played after presstime.
