Charlotte W. Hogeland

Charlotte W. Hogeland was born on Nov. 28, 1918 in Pickersville, S.D. to parents, William and Charlotte Saam Picker. She died on March 4, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston, Ore. at the age of 89 years. Charlotte was raised and attended school in South Dakota before moving to Oregon in 1935.

She married Dale King in July 1941 in North Platte, Neb. She then returned to Hermiston and worked at the Umatilla Army Depot during WWII while Dale served in the military until after the war. Charlotte then worked as a rural route carrier, delivering the East Oregonian for 38 years. Dale preceded her in death in 1962.

She later married Maynard Hogeland and he preceded her in death in 2000. Charlotte retired in 1992. She was an active member of the Faith Church of God where she was the pianist and the secretary treasurer for many years. Charlotte enjoyed hunting, fishing, and her church.

She is survived by her son: James King of Hermiston, Ore.; sisters: Mona Thomas and Isabel DeBoer, both of Hermiston; two granddaughters: Kelli and

Scotti; and three great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, brothers: Willy, Grant, Emery, and Walter Picker, and a sister: Lillian Picker.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston, Ore.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston, Ore.
