Herrmann resigns from school board

Libby School Board member John Herrmann resigned effective the end of June.

Elected to a three-year term in May 2007, Herrmann served on the board for six years over a period that began 10 years ago.

“I’ve done it for so long and I’m working on a book,” said Herrmann, a retired professor. “It has really nailed me down. I’m not wanting to think about other stuff and go to extra meetings.

“To a lesser extent, I certainly don’t agree with a few of the board (members) and their positions,” he added.

The school district is advertising for Herrmann’s replacement, said Superintendent Kirby Maki. Anyone interested is asked to submit a letter and resume to the school before Aug. 1.

The board plans to make an appointment during its Aug. 12 meeting. Whoever is appointed will serve until May 2009 and would have to run for election if interested in keeping the seat.
