The first to file for the Lincoln County Clerk of District Court position has officially submitted an application.

Susan Farmer, recently appointed by the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners to serve out the Clerk of District Court term of Nadine Pival, filed to run for the seat on Monday.

Farmer has worked in the Clerk of Court office for nearly 19 years under two District Court judges. She has also served under three previous clerks of Court and served as 19th District Court Bailiff for four years during her tenure in the office.

“I'm familiar with the total operation of this office, especially since in November 2006 Nadine Pival appointed me her administrative assistant,” Farmer stated in a press release. I am sure that this is what gave the commissioners the confidence that I would be able to continue handling the Clerk of Court office effectively and efficiently and I hope it gives the voters that same confidence.

“I just completed writing new rules that assist families with multi-child adoptions,” she added. “We have new computer programs and new jury selection processes that need worked on and are challenges that are going to require experience.”

Farmer and her family have lived in the Libby area for over 28 years. Susan's husband of 29 years, Ken, works for the U.S. Forest Service. She has a son, Cory, and a daughter-in-law, Lacie, of Libby, and a daughter, Jenny, of Missoula.

She has been a longtime sponsor of Friends of the NRA, is past president, treasurer and Quilter of the Year of the Kootenai Valley Quilting Guild, a member of the Kootenai Ridge Riders ATV Club and supporter of Provider Pals.

“It was a great honor to be appointed by the county commissioners to this office and it would be my pleasure and honor to continue to have the support of the voters of Lincoln County for this office,” Farmer said.
