Questioning the hunting ethics

| February 21, 2008 11:00 PM

To the Editor:

I'm not a hunter, but I'm not against hunting and controlling the population of wildlife.

But, what I am against, whether it's deer hunting or any other hunting of wildlife, is using hounds or baiting.

That isn't hunting…………. it's a lazy way of getting your kill.

Anyone can get hounds to tree a wild mountain lion, instead of hunting him on his own terms, and actually being smart enough to track and outsmart that animal.

I know some reading this would say, what does she know, she doesn't even hunt.

I did go a few times with my dad, and I had a great respect for my father, he hunted every season. He hunted in Michigan, Arizona and Colorado.

But, my father didn't believe in putting food out for deer, and sitting in a tree, waiting for them to come up to you.

And, he never believed in the hounds hunting the fox scenario.

That's just a lazy persons' way to hunt, and actually, it's not hunting at all……….it's a total disrespect for the animal and the whole hunt.
