Mary Poole

Mary Poole, 100, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at St. John’s Lutheran Hospital from natural causes.

She was born Dec. 17, 1908 in Minnesota to Carol and Eve Zagrabelny. She grew up and attended school in Minnesota. She married John Poole in 1936. They moved to California in 1956 where she worked as a seamstress for actress Judy Garland. She also made clothes for the Ice Capades.

In 1975, they moved to Libby where she owned and operated the Putt Putt. She worked for St. Joseph’s Parish for many years. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, cooking and picking huckleberries. She loved her dog.

Her daughter, Karol Rodgers, preceded her in death.

Survivors included one daughter, Mary Ann Katz of Libby; four grandchildren, Kelly Spooner and husband, Lance of Kalispell; Scott Fabeck and wife Shawna of Kalispell; Michele Calhoon and husband, Mike of Kalispell; and John Fabeck and wife Arica of Anchorage, Alaska; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday, Dec. 27 at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Libby.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 26 from 1-7 p.m. at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby with Rosary at 7 p.m.
