Nancy Joan Headings Archibald

Nancy Joan Headings Archibald, 60, of Idaho Falls, died at her home on Aug. 4, 2008, after a courageous 9 1/2-year battle with cancer.

She was born Nov. 19, 1947, in Turlock, Calif., to Luther Jay Headings and Nora Mae Bennett Headings, the fifth of six children. She grew up in and attended school in Gustine, Calif. She graduated from Gustine Union High School in 1965 where she was a song leader and active in sports. She attended Modesto Jr. College and Ricks College.

She met Lane R. Archibald at Brigham Young University in Provo and they were married Jan. 31, 1970, in the Idaho Falls Latter-day Saints Temple. During her college and early years of marriage, she worked as a bank teller, dental assistant, secretary and other positions.

She was an active and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she had served in many positions including Relief Society and primary president.

She completed and served in the Master Gardener Program. She loved cooking, decorating, shopping, serving and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Headings°Ø greatest joy was her family and she was devoted to them.

She is survived by her husband, Lane R. Archibald of Idaho Falls; her daughter, Amy (Matt) Williams of Idaho Falls; two sons, Rob (Jacki) Archibald of Portland, Ore., and Shad (Laura) Archibald of Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Rachel (Bill) West of Libby, Mont.; Carolyn (Ernest) Amarante of Gustine, Calif.; and Marjorie (Leonard) Gomes of Union, Ore.; brother, Paul (Rose) Headings of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and 12 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle; a son, Jamie; her parents, and a brother, Melvin Headings.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 at the Home Ranch Ward in Idaho Falls with Bishop Terry Orme officiating. Burial followed in the Parker Cemetery.
