Blogging about experiences

To the Editor:

I lived in Libby from 1965-1981. My dad worked at W. R. Grace from 1965-1970 and he now has mesothelioma. I have looked online for information about what happened with W. R. Grace and asbestos.

I found quite a few newspaper articles, court cases and government sites. But, there are only a few items about what happened to people personally and only some of them are people from Libby.

I believe that the mine and its “nuisance dust” have caused more health problems than just the obvious lung diseases. What are they? I don’t know them all. But, I do know too many people from there have birth defects, heart problems, muscle diseases, bad sinus troubles, passing away very young from cancers etc.

So I have started a Web blog to see if anyone else has something to say. If anyone wants to write about what happened to them or someone they know, even if you aren’t from Libby. Or, if you just want to come and write about the good old days, the blog address is libbytalk.blogspot.com .

I loved growing up in Libby and I miss it. I had a great childhood there and I wouldn’t change it if I could. It’s just terrible that this horrible secret had to ruin the memory.
