Dolores R. (Weenee) Smith, 77, died Monday, April 14, 2008 at St. John's Lutheran Hospital in Libby after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Kalispell on Aug. 21, 1930 to Joe and Violet (Moerke) Ritzman.

In her early years they moved to Libby and she attended Libby schools. She married Calvin (Kayo) Smith on March 6, 1948. They raised three children: Rod, Renee, and Wade.

Dolores was very gifted with her hands. In the late 1960s she had her own knitting shop where she taught knitting and made many beautiful articles of clothing. In the mid 1970s she and her husband built Smith Upholstery Shop at their residence up Granite Creek. She upholstered for many people, including St. Regis Lumber Company and W. R. Grace. In 1999 the shop burned down and she retired.

She loved their farm up Granite Creek. She loved all animals, especially all 10 of her cats. She loved everyone and never thought bad of anyone. She was mom and grandma to all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Hope Parker, two sons Rod and Wade, a grandson Robby Smith and a great-granddaughter Ashley Nester. She is now at peace with her loving, heavenly Father.

Survivors include: her husband Calvin Smith, a daughter Renee Moen, both of Libby; many nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Private family services are being held. Arrangements are by Nelson & Vial Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
