With only one loss in conference so far, the Trojans are hitting their stride since the team's beginning just three years ago.

“Last week we played five games, all of those right in a row,” said Troy softball coach, Russ Thompson. “And we're handling it OK.”

Delsey Olds was 2-for-2 with a home run and 3 RBIs to pace Troy to an 8-6 victory over Noxon in Troy last Thursday.

“We were ahead at one time, then tied 6-6, until we got two runs in the bottom of the sixth,” Thompson said.

Liz Straley had a double and 2 RBIs, helping to clinch another win for the Trojans with her last two innings of pitching.

Molly Harpole hit a double, while Ashley Pasch was 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

Alicia Anderson pitched the first 5 innings, allowing six runs on 5 hits, striking out 6 and walking nine.

Straley closed the game with 0 runs, 1 hit and 3 walks, striking out the final batter.

“She struck out the final batter with the bases loaded,” said Thompson. “Liz pitched real well the other two games as well,” he added.

They pulled out a win on the road against Eureka, 18-4 on April 1.

“We've never beat Noxon before and we've never beat Eureka - the kids are really excited,” said Thompson.

Thompson said they would be tested in their game against Thompson Falls, who took third in state last year, and he was right.

Troy lost to the undefeated Bluehawks, 6-0.

“We were held to just two hits and had 18 strikeouts while holding them to six runs,” said Thompson, giving kudos to their pitcher, Bria Howard, “the best in the west, if not the state.”

Anderson pitched four innings, allowing four runs on five hits and walking four, while Straley pitched two innings and allowed two hits, walking three.

“Delsey Olds and Alicia Anderson had the hits,” said Thompson.

Later that day against Drummond, Troy won, 13-0 in five innings.

“We had an eight-run 4th inning with all players but one scoring,” said Thompson. “Molly Harpole had a good game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double and scoring a run.”

Straley was 2-for-3 and scored twice while having a stellar day on defense in both games.

The team combined for 12 walks in the four innings played.
