Lady Logger freshman volleyball

| September 14, 2007 12:00 AM

The freshman volleyball team started their season with wins over Glacier and Bonners Ferry in the first week. It was a great start. Because of the schedule, the team did not have any games last week and the team is anxiously awaiting the next matches against Bigfork and Polson this week.

The freshman volleyball team is pretty talented this year. There are 8-10 girls that can jump in and contribute during any match.

"I'm looking forward to a great season," said Coach Barb Mee.

In the Glacier game the team scored 25-10, 25-15 and 15-9.

"I felt my players really did a great job of serving this game," Mee said. "Glacier had a difficult time trying to pass our serves. We did an OK job of serve receive, but the girls did a great job of hustling to an off target ball and still getting it back over the net."

Ace leaders were Taylor Barton, Alex Kulbeck and Alysha Martin with 4. The match kill leader was Alex Kulbeck with 7. Assist leaders were Taylor Barton and Kim Klinn with 3 each.

In the Bonners Ferry game the team had scores of 25-19, 25-22, 12-15, 4-15 and 15-10.

"Against Bonners Ferry we again served well. It makes it difficult for a team to get on attack if we serve well," Mee continued. "We did struggle in serve receive against Bonners having 21 serve receive errors. That means we scored 21 points for the other team off of their serves. So we will be working on that in practice. The girls did a good job of competing."

Ace leaders were Alysha Martin with 8 and Alex Kulbeck with 7. Kill leaders were Logan Best with 5 and Chancey Auge with 3. The assist leaders were Martin with 4 and Kim Klin with 3.
