Arbor Day tree planting deemed a success

| May 9, 2007 12:00 AM

To the Editor:

I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Libby Tree Board to thank all those that made our Arbor Day Tree Planting a huge success. We were able to plant 26 new trees along Spruce Street near the intersection of U.S Highway 2 and Main.

We had over 30 volunteers including elementary and high school students, Girl Scouts and adults. Everyone worked so well that we were able to plant these trees in about 3 and a half hours.

Special thanks to Mayor Tony Berget for digging all our planting holes and making the Arbor Day Proclamation for us; to Rachelle Beeks and her Girl Scouts; to Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, Flathead Electric and DNRC for their financial contributions totaling $1,800 for purchasing the trees; to Rosauers for donating bottled water for the workers; to Corky and his crew who have always been supportive and helpful in assisting us with tree stump removal; to the Stimson Mill Fingerjoiner workers who load our mulch; and last but not least, to all the property owners in town who appreciate these new trees and take the time and effort to water them.

If anyone is interested in participating on the Libby Tree Board or in any of its projects, please call us at 293-8419.

Vicky Lawrence
