Norman W. Hanson

Norman W. Hanson, 82, of Libby died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007 at the Libby Care Center in Libby from natural causes.

He was born Dec. 7, 1925 in Bowdoin, Mont. to Edward and Alma Hauen Hanson, he was one of 10 children.

He grew up and attended school in Malta, Mont. He entered the U.S. Navy on April 22, 1944 and was honorably discharged on May 22, 1946.

He married Inez Lundstrom on Nov. 30, 1946 at the Lutheran Church in Malta. Norm worked in the lumberyard in Malta for awhile. He moved to Libby in the early 1960s and went to work for J. Neil's Lumber Company in retail.

He later moved to Troy and owned and operated Norm's Trustworthy Hardware Store from 1972 - 1982. Norm retired in 1982. Norm enjoyed traveling, fishing and carpentry work.

Survivors include his wife Inez Hanson of Libby; six children Doug Hanson and his wife Cheryl of Spokane, Wash., Dolly Cline and her husband Joe of Libby, Darrell Hanson and his wife Ginger of Fresno, Calif., Diane Olson of Greenfield, Calif., Dorreen Tiffany and her husband Tim of Polson, Darla Perkins and her husband Ralph of Burien, Wash.; two sisters Adenna Holly and her husband Harry of Los Angeles, Calif. and Dora Henry and her husband Elmer of Dodson, Mont.; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be given to Hospice.

Private family service will be held. Local arrangements are by the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby.
