James Brown

James N. Brown, 82, died in his sleep on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, at his son's home in Gadsden, Ala.

Born June 8, 1924, in Cooperstown, N.D., to the late J. Lewis and Eva Duncan Brown, Jim was young when his family moved to Troy.

After graduating from Troy High School in 1942, he entered the Navy in November 1942, serving for four years during and after World War II.

Jim married Dorothy Smith in 1948 and they had children Jim, John and Terry.

He later married Annebelle Tucker in 1965.

Jim also was preceded in death by his first wife in 1959, his second wife in 1993 and two brothers.

Jim is survived by his children Jim Brown and his wife, Belinda, of Gadsden, John Brown of Troy, Terry Manger and her husband, Art, and Jackie Miller and her husband, Mick, all of Mead, Wash., and Dan Tucker of California; 14 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at Nelson & Vial Funeral Home in Libby. Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Church of God with Gene Bushnell officiating.

Burial will follow at Milnor Lake Cemetery with military honors delivered by the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Troy. A reception will follow at the VFW hall in Troy.
