Anna Lenora McCracken

Anna Lenora McCracken, 95, of Libby died July 23, 2006, at her home.

Lenora was born Dec. 15, 1910, in Washington to Vernon Oliver and A. Pearl Hughes. She was the oldest of eight children.

Lenora grew up in Washington before moving to Canada. She came back to the United States to stay with an aunt and graduated from high school in Bozeman.

She married Ed Steever. They lived in Whitehall and had two sons. She later married Henry McCracken, and they had a daughter.

Lenora worked as a silk finisher in the dry cleaning business and cared for terminally ill elderly people. She enjoyed family; quilting; watching baseball, especially the San Diego Padres; cheering for the underdog in the World Series; following her grandchildren's sporting events, including Libby Logger volleyball; genealogy; and temple work.

Lenora belonged to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Libby.

She was preceded in death by her husbands.

Survivors include her sons, Lyle Steever and his wife, Murial, of Shelby, and Keith Steever and his wife, Nancy, of Camp Verde, Ariz.; a daughter, HenriEtte Brumbaugh and her husband, John, of Libby; a stepdaughter, Joyce Ruple of Libby; a stepson, Stanley McCracken of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Paul Hughes of Maple Valley, Wash.; her sisters, Bessie Livingston of King City, Ore.; Marion Broding of LaMesa, Calif., Jane Wright of Libby, and Audrey Cocoran of Bridgetown, Mo.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral on Saturday, July 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints in Libby. Memorials may be given to the church's Perpetual Education Fund.
