Nancy A. Vignali, 71, a 43-year resident of Libby, died on June 23, 2005, at St. John's Lutheran Hospital, following a long battle with cancer.

Nancy was born on Sept. 4, 1933, at Rhinelander, Wis., to Bernard and Elsa Emmerling Froehlich, and was raised and educated at Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1951.

She worked briefly for Frito Lay before moving to Montana.

She married Emil Vignali on Aug. 4, 1962, at the Libby home of Fred and Therese Vignali.

A woman of many interests, Nancy enjoyed knitting, starting to knit a baby sweater as soon as she knew a child was on the way.

She also liked gardening, playing cards and fishing, and had fished many Montana waters. Her deep appreciation for the outdoors of Montana, especially wildflowers, led to many hours of sightseeing in the mountains.

Nancy was a devoted wife and mother extraordinaire, best known for her gentle nurturing ways and easy-going spirit. She never complained about anything.

Survivors include her husband Emil, Libby; daughter Lisa Carpenter, Lake Oswego, Ore.; son Bob Vignali, Kalispell,; brother Bernard Froehlich, Rhinelander, and grandchild Evan.

Services were conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Cal Noble officiating. Memorials may be made to Wings, P.O. Box 1550, Libby.
