Loretta Vincent

Loretta Jean Vincent, 65, died on Monday, June 20, 2005, at her home in Libby, surrounded by her family following a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1940, at Kalispell, to Lorraine Croskey and Buster Brown.

She attended Creston Grade School and Flathead Valley High School.

Loretta married Chuck Doherty in 1956 and they raised three children, Steve, Allen and Sharon.

Following Chuck's death Loretta was married briefly to Dan Raysen.

In 1994 she married Billy Urdahl and following his death she married Bill Vincent in 1997.

In addition to being a full-time mom, grandma and great-grandma, Loretta worked as a waitress at Sykes and other restaurants throughout northwestern Montana.

She enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing pool and in her later years, four-wheeling.

In retirement, Loretta and Bill enjoyed traveling and greeting guests at their Happy's Inn home. Loretta also enjoyed crafts and her extended family treasure her handmade gifts.

Loretta was preceded in death by husbands Chuck Doherty and Billy Urdahl, her father Buster Brown, stepfather Harold Croskey, sister Leila Mordeau and brother Tim Brown.

Survivors include her mother Lorraine Croskey, Kalispell, her husband Bill Vincent of Libby, sister Donna and her husband Dick Kidwell, Kalispell, brother Kerry and his wife Nita Croskey, Columbia Falls, sister Lucille and her husband Roy Parpart, Tonasket, Wash., brother Dave and his wife Barbara Brown, Lodi, Calif., and brother Ross Brown of Pearl River, La.

She is also survived by her children, Steve Doherty and his wife Vivian, Libby; Sharon and her husband Brian Higgins, Kalispell; Allen and his wife Pat Doherty, Fortine, and step-children Will and Susie Vincent, Bruce and Patti Jo Vincent, Steve and Corine Vincent, and Scott and Hassey Vincent, all of Libby, 17 grandchildren, 15 step-grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren in the Flathead Valley and Libby areas.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday and until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Nelson & Vial Funeral Home.

Loretta's courage, faith and life will be celebrated with a graveside service at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, at the City of Libby Cemetery.

Friends and family members are welcome to meet after the service at the Kicking Horse Saloon between Libby and Kalispell.
