Sen. Jon Testerís opponent, Matt Rosendale, has apparently called Jonís successful legislation to aid veterans, like myself, and that the president signed into law, the ďlittle stuff.Ē Well, I can tell you they are not ďthe little stuffĒ to me. In at least two instances, Sen. Testerís bills have helped me directly.
First, Jonís bill to allow the Veterans Administration to hire more staff allowed me to be assigned a new doctor and registered nurse after my previous doctor left from overwork. It also shortened my time to get an appointment.
Second, Jonís bill to end and replace the old program for vets to see private providers when VA personnel were not available allowed me to get an eye exam within one day of requesting it ó rather than three months under the old program. Additionally, I was able to get new eyeglasses within a week of the exam at very little cost to me.
Mr. Rosendale, these bills arenít just politics. They have a real impact on the lives of Montana veterans like myself. Since day one, Jon has fought on behalf of veterans and has delivered on his promises.
Thank you, Jon, for taking our fight with you to Washington.
