Lady Loggers crush senior night matchup

Emotions were high as the seniors played their last match at home on Thursday night against Ronan. The Lady Loggers channeled their emotions into a three-game victory over the Ronan Maidens, 25-16, 25-7, 25-16.

Seniors, Sheyla Gallagher, Ashlyn Monigold, Kylee Quinn and McKenzie Proffitt, along with their friends and family, were recognized before the match got underway.

Head Coach Samantha Hannah is thankful to her seniors “for being the foundation of our team.”

As a first-year coach, Hannah said she couldn’t have asked for better leadership. “I learned so much from them — they have changed my life and their teammates lives just by being themselves.”

Gallagher said she’s thankful for her teammates always being there for her and for the coaches and fans “for making this year a year to remember.”

Proffitt echoed Gallagher’s sentiment and is grateful for her “teammates and coaches for giving so many great memories I will cherish forever.”

Proffitt finished strong, contributing 12 of the 29 kills for the Loggers. Followed by Gallagher and Rode, who had seven kills apiece.

Team libero, Monigold expressed thanks to the coaching staff and gave teammate Julia Martineau a shoutout in her senior night write-up for, “making her laugh and appreciating her singing.”

Quinn, escorted by teammate Ember Rode, added that her favorite memory was “getting to play with Ember for two years.”

Quinn thanked Coach Hannah “for always being so encouraging and her teammates for creating the best team she could ask for.”

Leaving it all on the court, Quinn finished with 27 out of the 28 assists for the Loggers.

The Lady Loggers out-aced the Maidens with 18 total aces — Ronan had one. Ace leaders with five each were: Gallagher, Rode and Martineau. Gallagher also had the only block for the Loggers.

A couple of dig leaders emerged for the Loggers with Martineau adding nine digs, followed by Gallagher with seven and the regularly reigning leader Monigold rounding the Lady Loggers out with six.

Overall stats: Kills — Libby 28, Ronan 12. Blocks — Libby 1, Ronan 7. Assists — Libby 28, Ronan 11. Digs — Libby 29, Ronan 27. Aces — Libby 18, Ronan 1.
